VCID No. 671978 About the Role CAHS is seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance and Training Officer to join our Security Services team and lead initiatives that enable the delivery of high-quality healthcare across both hospital and community sites. Reporting to the Security Manager, you will oversee review of our security practices in line with relevant legislation, accreditation standards, and internal procedures. Whether you're overseeing the response protocol for a hospital helipad or reviewing access control systems at a new community clinic, your work will ensure our teams are well-prepared, compliant, and confident. You will also lead our training and development portfolio, which includes developing and implementing tailored training strategies aligned with WA Health directives, delivering both scheduled and ad-hoc training sessions, and ensuring all staff meet their competency and mandatory training requirements. Your ability to build strong relationships with both security personnel and clinical teams will be key to success in this role. Key responsibilities include: Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to support compliance efforts and respond to security incidents. Assessing security risks and identifying areas for improvement through root cause analysis and incident debriefings. You will also maintain and develop contemporary procedural documentation to support evolving needs. Working closely with clinical teams to support basic safety awareness and restrictive practice education. About our Team The Security Team at the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment across Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and other CAHS sites including emergency departments, mental health areas, and community health facilities. Dedicated to protecting staff, patients, and visitors from violence and aggression, they work closely with clinical teams, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on delivering exceptional care to children and young people. The team undergoes comprehensive site-specific and internal training, including clinical de-escalation and security-specific techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle a wide range of situations effectively. Their responsibilities include responding to emergency codes, duress alarms, and other urgent situations throughout the hospital and its premises. They also manage security systems, oversee access control, and conduct regular patrols. Additionally, the team handles incidents requiring law enforcement involvement and is responsible for the hospital's helicopter landing operations.
