About the Role
Berry Street Yooralla's Community Access Services is seeking a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community and Recreation. As a member of the Community Access Team you will support children, teenagers and adults with disability to actively participate in their community and within their home.
Responsibilities
* Support clients to work towards their goals.
* Facilitate a wide range of recreation and social activities.
* Assist children and youth in participating in after‐school care and school holiday programmes.
* Help children, youth and adults attend camps or holidays.
* Provide shopping, appointment and event support.
* Engage clients in meaningful opportunities and relationships.
* Assist with daily living and personal care needs, including meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility.
Qualifications
* Positive approach, initiative and self‐motivation.
* Willingness to commit to empowering clients and upholding quality and safeguards.
* Effective communication skills and good English literacy.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.
* Willingness to support clients with personal care activities.
* Australian Driver Licence.
* Working with Children Check.
* Right to work in Australia.
* First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate (or ability to obtain one).
A Certificate IV in Disability or relevant work experience would be advantageous but is not required. Yooralla provides training and support, and can assist with study if necessary. All candidates will be subject to an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
