Offer description

About the Company This is a well-established, nationally operating transport and logistics business with a proud history of keeping Australia moving. Operating across every state and territory, the organisation delivers critical transport solutions at significant scale that is supported by a strong values-led culture. The business is in an exciting period of growth and maturity, having invested heavily in its people, systems and safety capability over recent years. The HSE function has evolved considerably - moving from a transactional model to a genuine business partner approach - and the organisation is now focused on driving the next phase of cultural uplift. People who thrive here are collaborative, commercially minded, and bring energy and purpose to the work they do. About the Role Reporting to the Head of People and sitting within a high-functioning People & Culture structure, this is a senior group-level remit with genuine influence across the business. You will lead a team of five HSE professionals who are embedded in states across the country. This is a role for someone who understands the complexity of a national transport operation and can operate with pace and commercial acumen. The team is at an important juncture: there is solid structure in place, capable people on the ground, and an opportunity for a strong leader to embed a coaching-led approach to safety that moves the needle on culture. Key Responsibilities

* Set and lead the Group HSE strategy and roadmap nationally
* Lead, coach and develop a team of state-based HSE professionals
* Build capability and reengage the team with a clear, consistent BP model
* Drive uplift in investigations management and return to work programs
* Manage critical risk identification, controls and assurance programs
* Own HSE reporting including lead/lag indicators and board-level reporting
* Partner cross-functionally
* Oversee contractor and supplier HSE frameworks including CoR compliance
* Act as the primary contact for regulators and external HSE stakeholders
* Use data and insights to inform strategy and shift safety culture

Skills & Experience

* Background in transport, logistics or a similarly high-risk environment
* Demonstrated experience leading and developing HSE teams nationally
* Strong data literacy — ability to draw insights and make recommendations
* Experience in investigations management (ICAM or equivalent)
* Exposure to RTW and injury management program development
* Coaching leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels
* Commercially sound approach to safety — not a policing mindset
* Proven track record of improving safety culture and outcomes
* Degree qualification in OHS or equivalent; Lead Auditor experience desirable
* Familiarity with ISO 45001, WHS legislation and CoR obligations
