Job Description
Our valued client, NEWCO FARMS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Animal Husbandry Technician to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide daily care, including feeding and cleaning, and monitoring the health and behavior of animals on the farm.
Responsibilities
* Administer medications, assist with procedures, maintain accurate records, and ensure animal living environments are clean and safe.
* Monitor and maintain the health and welfare of livestock, assist with breeding and raising livestock.
* Evaluate feeding programs and manage livestock nutrition and feeding schedules.
* Provide food, water, and a clean living environment for animals, including cleaning cages and enclosures.
* Observe animals for signs of illness or distress, monitor behavior, and report concerns to veterinary or research staff.
* Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains.
* Artificially inseminate livestock, conduct pregnancy tests, manage lactation, and care for young animals.
* Collect and collate data for research purposes.
* Maintain detailed and accurate records of animal care, health, treatments, and procedures performed.
* Ensure animal housing areas and equipment are clean, sterile, and in good working order.
* Reorganise work procedures as directed by the General Manager and Veterinary Services Manager.
* Safely handle and restrain animals for procedures, transportation, or other tasks.
* Ensure strict compliance with quarantine and biosecurity principles.
* Report workplace hazards and assist in developing Safe Work Practices.
* Support and implement the Company's Accident Prevention Program.

Qualifications & Skills
* Proficiency in safely handling and restraining animals.
* Ability to interpret animal behavior and strong understanding of animal welfare principles.
* Knowledge of animal health, common diseases, and proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
* Organisational skills and familiarity with relevant software for record‑keeping.
* Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and supervisors.
* Technical skills in administering medication, performing basic lab techniques, or using specific farm equipment.
* Familiarity with regulations governing animal care.
Salary
$100,000 per annum
