Your Opportunity:
* The role of the Senior Staff Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients/clients of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service directly or indirectly. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
* In this role you will be responsible for the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and quality Diabetes and Endocrinology Service within the Fraser Coast.
* In addition to the key responsibilities listed below, the role of the Senior Staff Specialist is to provide such services as may be reasonably directed from time to time by the Professional or Operational manager.
Opportunity for Private Practice:
The successful candidate may have the opportunity to establish private practice outside of their WBHHS appointment with local private hospitals. The successful candidate may receive assistance and concessions with:
* Use of the local private hospital's sessional rooms to allow establishment of practice and referral pathways
* Assistance with credentialling and administrative support to commence private practice
* Introduction to local GP's, physicians and surgeons to facilitate referral pathways.
What we're looking for:
* Demonstrated clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of conditions in the field of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Obesity and involvement in interdisciplinary, team-based care across the continuum.
* A demonstrated commitment to participate in clinical audit programs to ensure the maintenance of high standards within the Endocrinology service.
* Ability to practice Endocrinology effectively across the spectrum of environments required of the role including Outpatients clinics, Outreach clinics, Medical Assessment Unit, and Inpatients.
* Demonstrated ability as a clinical teacher at undergraduate and post-graduate medical level.
* Demonstrated ability to practice medicine in a diverse cultural environment.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, organizational and time management skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Mandatory possession of a Medical qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) with a current annual practicing certificate is essential and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Endocrinology and General Medicine within Australia as recognized by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration.
* Specialist Registrants will be preferred in all positions; however non-specialists or overseas trained specialists may be considered where appropriate and significant progression towards fellowship can be demonstrated. Applicants who have completed specialist qualifications but are yet to be registered as a specialist are encouraged to apply.
* All such qualifications should be submittedto AHPRA for inclusionon their websitein which case, this will provide evidence of qualification. Copies of the required information must also be provided in sufficient time to enable the awarding of Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) prior to the commencement date.
* All applicants must be awarded Scope of ClinicalPractice (SoCP) by the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee. Information presented for application will be presented to the committee during the selectionprocess, and all appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinicalwork is to be undertaken. This process must be completed prior to commencement.
