OverviewMoffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as a global leader in this field.
We are actively looking for a Coastal Engineer to join our Brisbane office.
As part of the Coastal Group, the Coastal Engineer will assist with the planning and design for urban waterfront, coastal management and coastal structures projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments and cruise ship facilities, living shorelines and coastal restoration, dredging, coastal hazard assessments, shore protection structures, and beach nourishment.Duties And ResponsibilitiesPrepare or contribute to feasibility investigations, environmental impact studies, coastal hazard assessments, infrastructure condition assessments and engineering designsSupport planning and design for maritime, waterfront and coastal structures, marinas, marine and cruise terminals, living shoreline and coastal restoration projects, dredging, coastal protection structures, reclamation and beach nourishmentCollect and/or analyse coastal data, survey data, geotechnical investigations, engineering drawings, aerial photography and reviewing reports to support project workUndertake calculations or modelling of coastal processes and sediment transport to support engineering or environmental assessments, including wave overtopping and armour stabilityAssist with preparation of engineering planning, design and technical reports, and development of basis of design, technical specifications, plans, bill of quantities and schedulesPrepare application documentation for development and environmental permitsAssist senior engineers or scientists with site inspections and data collection to support project workAssist in research to support opportunities and project deliveryAssist with fieldwork, such as instrument handling and deploymentCollaborate with other team membersParticipate in project-related meetings and workshops, or attend conferences or seminars for professional developmentQualificationsBachelor's degree in related engineering field2+ years of experience as a coastal engineerAutoCAD, Civil3D and/or GIS (QGIS or ArcGIS) proficiency is desirableHydrodynamic (MIKE21 or Delft3D) and wave (MIKE21 or SWAN) modelling experience is a strong plusExperience with Python is also highly desirableExcellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)Availability and willingness to travelAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Working ConditionsSedentary for prolonged periods of time, with client interactions and occasional travel.Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) StatementAs a global business, Moffatt & Nichol relies on diversity of culture and thought to deliver on our goal of Creative People, Practical Solutions serving our client needs, and ensures nondiscrimination in all activities.
