Your new role
JANA is seeking a hands‐on data engineering specialist to own and evolve the enterprise data warehouse, built in a Microsoft Fabric environment using a medallion architecture from bronze through gold. The role is responsible for transforming complex, investment‐grade data into trusted, analytics‐ready datasets that underpin research, portfolio analysis, reporting, and AI‐driven insights. This position sits at the crossroads of analytics engineering, data modelling & third‐party data management, and requires deep domain expertise in funds management and wealth management. It is a senior individual contributor role with real ownership across data quality, semantics, and delivery. This role is located in our Melbourne office and reports to the GM, Technology and Data.
Responsibilities
* Own and evolve JANA's enterprise data warehouse in a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse.
* Act as the data domain authority for investment and client data.
* Set and enforce standards for data ingestion, transformation, and modelling.
* Partner with business stakeholders to scope, shape, and estimate data outcomes.
* Ensure strong data lineage, auditability, and transparency.
Data Modelling & Engineering
* Design and build high‐quality dimensional, analytical, and semantic models.
* Develop analytics‐ready gold‐layer datasets for reporting and insights.
* Build and oversee pipelines using Microsoft Fabric tooling.
* Collaborate with architects and engineers to align end‐to‐end data patterns.
Vendor Data & Governance
* Manage and shape relationships with market, benchmark, and reference data providers.
* Ensure third‐party data is well understood, validated, and consistently modelled.
* Define and implement data quality rules and reconciliation checks.
* Ensure datasets meet governance, risk, and compliance expectations.
About you
* Deep experience in funds management, asset management, or wealth management.
* Strong understanding of performance, benchmarks, asset allocation, and exposure analysis.
* Experience working with investment data vendors and data products.
* Strong hands‐on experience in analytics engineering and data modelling.
* Advanced SQL skills.
* Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, or similar modern data platforms.
* Proven ability to design semantic and analytical models for reporting and analytics.
* Senior, hands‐on, and accountable individual contributor.
* Comfortable with end‐to‐end ownership of complex data domains.
* Ability to work effectively with highly capable internal stakeholders.
* Clear communicator across technical, operational, and business audiences.
