About The Role
This senior commercial leadership role is responsible for end‐to‐end ownership of the ocean product, from rate procurement and pricing through to customer solutions and profitability. You will lead the regional ocean freight pricing and services team, drive competitive positioning, secure capacity, and translate strategy into high‐impact outcomes. Acting as the ocean product expert, you will elevate value propositions, support major tenders, and enable growth across the business.
As The Ocean Freight Procurement Manager, You Will
* Define and execute the country‐level ocean pricing and procurement strategy in line with global and regional frameworks.
* Lead carrier sourcing, negotiate contracts and manage the Core Carrier Program to secure competitive rates, capacity and service continuity.
* Drive yield and margin improvement through pricing discipline, cost analysis, KPI management and accurate rate administration.
* Partner with Sales and Projects teams to deliver market insights, customer‐specific solutions and support new business opportunities.
* Oversee carrier performance, compliance and governance, ensuring adherence to policy, regulation and continuous improvement standards.
* Act as the regional subject‐matter expert and escalation point, providing performance reporting and stakeholder advisory at country and regional levels.
Key Skills And Qualifications
* Extensive experience in ocean freight forwarding with deep capability in pricing, procurement and commercial decision‐making.
* Strong contract negotiation expertise and proven ability to manage and optimise carrier and vendor relationships.
* High‐level financial and analytical skills with a track record of cost control and margin improvement initiatives.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and freight management platforms, including CargoWise; CargoSphere preferred.
* Sound knowledge of local customs requirements and maritime regulations governing ocean freight operations.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, able to influence cross‐functional teams at country level.
