This role, which can be based in Melbourne or Sydney, is responsible for ensuring an optimal procurement approach across all phases of renewable energy projects, including major equipment supply, installation, operation and maintenance, civil and electrical balance of plant (BOP), and grid connection works. The position will drive effective tendering processes, lead contract negotiations, and develop strong relationships with leading suppliers, contractors, and partners within the renewable energy sector.
The role will also lead the development, negotiation, and execution of all key project development agreements, supporting the successful delivery of utility‑scale wind and renewable energy projects across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
* Procurement Leadership: Develop and implement procurement strategies covering equipment supply, installation, O&M, BOP, and grid connection contracts.
* Tendering & Contracting: Lead end‑to‑end tendering processes, including bid evaluation, risk assessment, and contract award recommendations.
* Commercial Negotiations: Manage complex commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers, EPC contractors, OEMs, and service providers.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross‑functionally with project development, legal, engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure alignment of procurement and contracting strategies.
* Supplier & Contractor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry suppliers and contractors to support project delivery and commercial outcomes.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all procurement and contracting activities comply with relevant Australian standards, regulations, and grid connection requirements (NEM/WEM).
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 10 years' experience in commercial negotiation and procurement roles, with at least 5 years in renewable energy projects.
* Direct experience with a project developer, utility, OEM, EPC contractor, or renewable energy investment fund in a procurement or contracting capacity.
* Proven track record in the tendering, negotiation, and execution of key project contracts and commercial agreements for NEM/WEM‑connected renewable energy projects .
* Sound understanding of Australian standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to renewable energy development.
* Strong project management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
