Full-time role at 35 hours per week. Location: Maitland preferred; however other DPIRD office locations may also be considered – hybrid working supported. Salary ranges from $113,574.00 to $125,720.00 + super & leave loading.
About the Role
As a Special Project Officer (Information Management) with NSW Resources, you will play a key role in strengthening the quality, integrity and usability of critical geoscientific data that supports safe and sustainable exploration and mining across NSW. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will contribute to the delivery of information management initiatives, combining project coordination with data validation, analysis and process improvement to ensure systems and datasets are reliable, consistent and fit for purpose. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the business to understand end to end processes and deliver practical solutions that enhance data management and system efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and meaningful projects, contribute to informed decision making and support the ongoing development of high-quality information systems that underpin the future of the resources sector in regional NSW.
Responsibilities
* Strengthen the quality, integrity and usability of critical geoscientific data that supports safe and sustainable exploration and mining across NSW.
* Coordinate information management initiatives, including data validation, analysis and process improvement to ensure systems and datasets are reliable and fit for purpose.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand end-to-end processes and deliver practical solutions that enhance data management and system efficiency.
* Contribute to the delivery of information management projects across a diverse portfolio.
* Support informed decision making through high-quality information systems.
About You / Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Geology and/or equivalent work experience.
* Demonstrated experience with relational databases, data entry and quality assurance, with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
* Knowledge of geoscience data systems and datasets (e.g., geochemistry, drilling or analytical data) or ability to quickly develop this expertise.
* Proven ability to support and manage projects, including planning, monitoring and delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and disciplines.
* A proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to manage competing priorities in a small team environment.
* Knowledge of IT Project Management (Agile and Waterfall) approaches and tools is desirable.
* Knowledge of IT Service Delivery is desirable.
Essential Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Geology and/or equivalent work experience.
