The Role
We are seeking an Assistant Art Director to work closely with our Art Director in leading the visual execution of MediGuides. This role is critical to ensuring that all visual outputs strictly follow established style guides, research guides, and accessibility frameworks, while scaling production through AI-assisted tools.
This is not a purely conceptual role. It requires hands-on production, deep systems thinking, and the ability to lead teams in delivering highly consistent, research-aligned visual content at scale.

Key Responsibilities
Visual Direction & Consistency
* Develop deep, working mastery of Graphics et al's visual style guides, asset systems, and research-driven design rules.
* Ensure all visual outputs strictly adhere to established standards across illustrations, animations, diagrams, and AI-generated assets.
* Act as a quality gate for visual accuracy, consistency, and accessibility before content is approved for release.
Team Leadership & Execution
* Support the Art Director in leading and mentoring designers, illustrators, and animators.
* Provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure outputs meet both creative and clinical requirements.
* Help onboard and train team members in style guides, workflows, and quality expectations.
AI-Assisted Visual Production
* Create and refine visual content using AI tools (e.g. DALL·E, Midjourney, or similar), ensuring outputs align with established visual systems.
* Develop and maintain prompt strategies and AI workflows that reliably produce compliant, high-quality assets.
* Identify where AI can accelerate production without compromising accuracy, accessibility, or trust.
Healthcare & Research Alignment
* Work closely with internal research and clinical guidance to ensure visuals accurately reflect medical concepts.
* Translate complex medical information into visual formats that are safe, clear, and suitable for patient education.
* Maintain a strong understanding of accessibility principles (e.g. plain visuals, cognitive load, visual ambiguity where required).
Process & System Improvement
* Contribute to the evolution of visual systems, templates, and asset libraries.
* Help document workflows so visual production can scale without loss of quality.
* Support audits and reviews of visual outputs where required.

Required Experience & Qualifications
* A formal degree in Art Direction, Animation, or a related field, with preference for 2D or 3D animation specialty.
* Deep knowledge and experience using Adobe suite, specifically Illustrator and After Effects.
* Proven industry experience in a professional art direction or senior visual role.
* Strong understanding of structured design systems and style-guide-driven production.
* Demonstrated experience leading or guiding creative teams.
* Hands-on experience using AI image generation tools in a professional context.
* Exceptional attention to detail and consistency.
Highly Regarded
* Experience working in healthcare, education, or other regulated industries.
* Familiarity with accessibility, inclusive design, or health literacy principles.
* Experience producing diagrams, instructional visuals, or explainer animations.
* Comfort working with evolving AI-driven pipelines and experimental tools.
