Role: Transmission Engineer - Network Migration
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Engineer to lead the migration of legacy transmission networks to next-generation optical communication systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in SDH, DWDM, Ethernet, ASON, and Layer 0/Layer 1 technologies, along with hands-on experience in network migration planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and document legacy transmission networks and dependencies
Design and implement migration strategies to contemporary packet/optical platforms (DWDM, OTN, MPLS)
Perform traffic cutovers, commissioning, and rerouting with minimal service impact
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers for seamless transitions
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during and after migration
Conduct acceptance testing and update network records post-migration
Skills and Experience:
Strong knowledge of SDH/SONET systems and protocols (STM-1/4/16/64)
Expertise in DWDM, Ethernet, ASON, and Layer 0/Layer 1 transport networks
Experience with major vendors (e.g., Nokia, Huawei, Ciena, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent)
Proficiency in NMS tools and service provisioning
Ability to interpret network diagrams and fiber plans
Experience in legacy-to-modern network migration is highly desirable
Scripting and automation experience for network configuration is a plus
B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field
Robust communication and coordination skills
