Product Development Manager

About the Role:
* Lead the full product lifecycle from ideation and specification through to sourcing, production, and market launch.
* Conduct market and competitor research to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities.
* Collaborate with product, marketing, and retail teams to define and refine product concepts and roadmaps.
* Provide regular updates and insights on product strategy aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
* Oversee timelines, budgets, and resources for multiple concurrent product development initiatives.
* Ensure all development milestones (ideation, prototyping, testing, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing) are delivered on time and within scope.
* Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.
Sourcing & Procurement
* Identify, evaluate, and engage suitable suppliers and manufacturers (locally and internationally).
* Negotiate pricing, terms, and logistics to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
* Manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with the marketing team to support product positioning, pricing strategy, and go-to-market execution.
* Liaise with retail teams to gather frontline insights and ensure strong in-store performance.
* Collaborate with regulatory and quality assurance teams to meet industry standards and certifications.
Market & Performance Analysis
* Monitor market trends, customer feedback, competitor activity, and internal performance data to inform product planning and innovation.
* Contribute to regular reporting, including Board-level insights and presentations.
Product Testing & Validation
* Oversee product testing protocols to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
* Manage post-launch performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Develop and manage the product development budget across R&D, procurement, and production.
* Conduct cost analysis and work closely with finance to ensure profitability and margin targets are achieved.
Leadership & Culture
* Champion the company's mission and values in all aspects of your role.
* Contribute to strategic planning with the leadership team across product, marketing, and broader business areas.
* Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality as required.
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in product development, sourcing, and procurement within vitamins, food, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or health-related sectors.
* Proven ability to manage end-to-end product lifecycles and supplier networks.
* Strong commercial acumen and project management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to health and wellness products in Australia.
