**About the Role**

The Place Project Officer role is with the Placemaking team within Design and Placemaking Services. Design and Placemaking Services provide expert solutions in the planning, development and delivery of designs (place, engineering and landscape) that will support and align to council's vision and urban design and placemaking management.

Lead and collaborate across streetscape and place based projects with our community of communities. Enjoy life/work balance on the stunning Sunshine Coast, while working within an inclusive and diverse workplace in a supportive, friendly and fun team.

You will facilitate and work hands-on in all place project aspects including:

- robust project scoping, planning, engagement / design / construction timing and budget management
- getting to know your project community's deeply and directly through thorough planning, design and undertaking of community engagements
- trusted analysis and translation of community engagement findings into authentic themes, design principles and outcomes
- forming and leading internal and external collaborative project teams through community engagement, design conceptualising, testing, development and construction documentation, true to community partnership and placemaking outcomes
- managing story telling layers through artists and makers to physical, digital and artistic interpretation outcomes
- ongoing monitoring for quality placemaking outcomes through partnership construction delivery
- collaboratively working with others to create opportunity for activations and events

As a Placemaker and project lead you will also be creative, confident and courageous. You will be a placemaker first in this role, but will underpin this with your own strong design / planning or allied professional skills. You will enjoy rolling up your sleeves and bringing into the team / learning other abilities from work with community, arts and events.

You will be invigorated in an agile team and project environment. You will have experience in and / or a growth mindset for approaching a wide range of placemaking functions. You will have the finesse to go from hands on, to coaching, to leading in these various capacities and project phases.

Mandatory requirements of the role include:

- placemaking approach and advocacy to all projects and outcomes
- underpinned by a tertiary qualification in design (urban / landscape architecture / architecture / human centred), town planning or allied profession
- substantial relevant experience in community, design, project management and delivery roles
- strong project management and leadership skills that manage time and budget and inspire collaboration and team belief in the work
- ability and capacity to do the work hands on
- agility when approaching changing priorities and ability to pivot and reframe
- exceptional communication and relationship building skills
