The client also operates a large‐scale GPU cloud platform that enables developers, enterprises, education providers, and government users to train AI models with high efficiency and cost savings. Their infrastructure and services are designed to scale and support the next generation of AI workloads.
Role Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in data centre infrastructure, particularly across electrical systems, controls, and cabling.
This role will be responsible for end‐to‐end involvement in the design, engineering, commissioning, and operational support of next‐generation sustainable AI Factory developments.
The role can be based in Sydney, Hobart, or Launceston, Australia. Travel (approximately 10–30%) will be required during project delivery phases.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support the design of electrical systems from concept through to commissioning.
* Develop key technical documentation and engineering deliverables.
* Support technical qualification, onboarding, and management of third‐party consultants and contractors.
* Perform electrical system design calculations and provide design inputs for contractors.
* Develop equipment specifications and support final selection of electrical systems, ensuring performance, capacity, and efficiency requirements are met.
* Review consultant and contractor electrical designs, drawings, and equipment selections.
* Contribute to the development of Operations and Maintenance manuals, including system maintenance requirements.
* Conduct site inspections to ensure installations comply with design specifications and technical standards.
* Participate in commissioning activities for electrical and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
* Develop and maintain technical engineering standards and specifications.
* Support R&D initiatives and drive design optimisation efforts.
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in data centre or critical infrastructure (MEP) environments.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems including DC, low voltage AC, and medium voltage AC systems.
* Experience working with relevant local and international electrical standards.
* Knowledge of Asia‐Pacific data centre standards and practices is highly desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to work through complex and ambiguous engineering challenges.
* High attention to detail with strong documentation and design accuracy.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
* Proven experience working in cross‐functional, multicultural teams.
* Strong collaboration, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute to evolving project needs.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
