About Us An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Managing Lawyer within the Civil Justice practice to lead a skilled team of lawyers delivering vital community legal services.
In this role, you will oversee the Civil Justice and Generalist legal practice, manage programs such as the Health Justice Partnership, Rental Stress Hub, and Deakin Lawyer Program, and contribute to strategic direction, law reform, and community engagement.
You'll join a collaborative leadership team committed to innovation, quality, and client-centred practice.
Responsibilities Lead and manage the Civil Justice team, fostering excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Provide legal supervision, mentorship, and case direction to staff and volunteers.
Oversee delivery of key legal programs and ensure compliance with risk management frameworks.
Deliver high-quality legal services and maintain a small, strategic casework load.
Contribute to strategic planning, reporting, and organisational leadership.
Engage in community legal education, law reform, and stakeholder collaboration.
Your Profile You're a capable and strategic legal leader with a strong civil law background and a passion for advancing social justice.
You will bring: Minimum 7 years' post-admission experience in civil or generalist law.

Current practising certificate (eligible to supervise legal staff).
Demonstrated leadership and staff supervision experience.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong organisational and strategic thinking abilities.
