 
        
        Finance Manager Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead our day-to-day finance function, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of month-end processes.
 * Financial Close and Reporting: Oversee month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and stock/Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reconciliation. Deliver weekly trade snapshots, monthly Balance Sheet (BS), Income Statement (P&L), Cash Flow Statement (CF), and management reporting packs.
 * Cash Management: Maintain an accurate rolling 13-week cash flow forecast. Liaise with banks and merchants to optimize cash positioning and manage foreign exchange and merchant costs.
 * Inventory and Cost Management: Drive landed-cost accuracy and SKU-level margin tracking. Monitor discounts, returns, freight, payment fees, and inventory shrinkage. Support open-to-buy (OTB), ageing, weeks-cover, and stocktake cadence.
 * Commercial Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on pricing, promotional Return on Investment (ROI), channel profitability, and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) versus Contribution Margin (CM).
 * Payroll and Human Resources: Manage and mentor a Finance Officer, reviewing and approving weekly payruns, ensuring accurate leave and entitlements.
 * Accounts Payable (AP): Optimize supplier payments, negotiate terms, and monitor outflows to strengthen cash conversion.
 * Compliance and Risk: Ensure BAS/IAS, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Australian Taxation Office (ATO) compliance, and address external accountant queries, insurance renewals, policy improvements, and internal control enhancements.
 * Forecasting and Planning: Develop and maintain a practical three-way forecast, budget versus actuals, and scenario models for pricing, promotions, capital expenditure (capex), and headcount adjustments.
 * Systems and Automation: Improve data quality and speed across Shopify, Xero, and the inventory system, automating feeds and dashboards to enhance business insights.
Requirements
 * 5–8+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with strong month-end ownership and business partnering. Product-based businesses, eCommerce, or retail experience is highly regarded.
 * Advanced Xero and Google Sheets proficiency, with comfort using Shopify data and inventory platform.
 * Strong understanding of stock and margin mechanics, including discounts, returns, shipping, duties, and payment fees.
 * Clear and concise communication skills to articulate transactional detail and board-level narratives.
 * Australian Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification, with relevant work rights required.
