About the Role
Mozaik Mediterranean Taste is a premier dining destination in Toowoomba, known for our authentic Mediterranean flavors, traditional pides, and signature chargrill dishes. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy Cook to join our team under a 407 Training Visa sponsorship.
This is a unique opportunity for a candidate who already possesses a solid foundation in commercial cookery but is looking to enhance their professional skills in a high-volume, specialized Mediterranean kitchen through a structured 12 to 24-month training program.
Key Responsibilities
* Traditional Chargrill: Master the art of open-fire cooking, managing various meat cuts and skewers to ensure authentic flavor and texture.
* Bakery & Pide Station: Hand-preparing dough and topping traditional Turkish pides and breads.
* Kebab Preparation: Skillfully preparing and carving high-quality kebabs.
* Mise en Place: Ensuring all stations are prepped for busy lunch and dinner services.
* Quality Control: Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and presentation standards.
* Structured Learning: Actively participating in the 407 Training Plan, documenting progress, and refining techniques under the guidance of our Head Chef.
Requirements
* Experience: At least 12 months of full-time experience in a commercial kitchen (Mediterranean or Middle Eastern cuisine preferred).
* Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) is highly regarded.
* Visa Eligibility: Must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements for a 407 Training Visa (including English proficiency and recent experience/study).
* Skill Set: Strong knife skills, experience with chargrill/grill, and a fast-paced work ethic.
* Attitude: A genuine desire to learn, take feedback, and grow within a professional team environment.
