Head of Sales and Marketing The HMC Group is seeking an experienced Head of Sales and Marketing to provide strategic commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of tourism, aviation, hospitality and accommodation. This fixed‐term parental leave cover, for up to 14 months, is pivotal in driving revenue growth, expanding market presence and strengthening the Group’s brand position across domestic and international markets.

About the Role As Head of Sales and Marketing you will lead the development and execution of the Group’s commercial strategy, ensuring our brands remain top of mind and the preferred choice for travellers, trade partners and corporate clients. You will manage a small, high‑performing team and collaborate closely with General Managers, Operations Managers and the Reservation team to deliver cohesive, high‑impact commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement the Group’s Sales & Marketing strategy to achieve revenue, growth and brand objectives.
Lead annual planning, forecasting and budgeting aligned with strategic priorities.
Identify emerging markets, trends and long‑term commercial opportunities.
Oversee brand positioning and ensure consistent brand standards across all businesses.
Lead, mentor and develop the Sales & Marketing team to achieve high performance.
Set clear objectives, monitor performance and ensure targets are met within budget.
Foster a collaborative, innovative and customer‑focused team culture.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade partners, agents, wholesalers, inbound operators and OTAs.
Promote Group products through training, sales missions and trade engagement initiatives.
Manage contracts, commission structures, rate distribution and pricing strategies to maximise ROI.
Identify and pursue new sales channels and partnership opportunities.
Represent the Group at trade and consumer shows, networking events and industry functions.
Oversee the development and execution of digital marketing strategies, including SEM, SEO, social media, EDM and content marketing.
Ensure marketing campaigns are data‑driven, measurable and aligned with commercial goals.
Guide the creation of high‑quality marketing collateral, working with internal teams and external suppliers.
Conduct market research to understand consumer behaviour, competitor activity and market share.
Identify opportunities to enhance product appeal, profitability and market positioning.
Support new product development and customer feedback processes.
Manage PR activities, media requests and the distribution of media releases.
Act as the primary media contact and coordinate media visits.
Manage sponsorships, negotiate agreements and measure ROI.
Oversee merchandise performance and pricing.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years’ senior management experience in tourism sales, marketing or commercial leadership.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated leadership capability with experience mentoring and developing teams.
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
Strong problem‑solving skills with initiative and sound judgment.
Openness to innovation and change.
Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, analytics and best practices.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Knowledge of the inbound and wholesale tourism distribution system.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently and positively with diverse stakeholders.
