Senior Associate Strategic Advisory (Finance Strategic Budgeting)

- This is a Clerk Grade 9/10 role, offering a salary range of $125,693 - $138,510 
- Ongoing based in Sydney with a hybrid working arrangements 
About the role 
The Senior Associate Strategic Advisory is part of the broader Finance Strategic Budgeting team. As a Senior Associate, Strategic Advisory, you will play a key role in providing expert advice, research, and policy insights to support complex strategic initiatives. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, lead critical projects, and develop evidence-based recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes. 
This role requires a dynamic professional who can navigate ambiguity, provide innovative solutions, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners. 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis using multiple system to support strategic planning, business case development, and budget submissions. 
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of business cases and other submissions for policy proposals, ensuring alignment with Treasury guidelines and addressing follow-up queries. 
- Prepare high-quality briefing packs for the Secretary and Minister to support financial performance reviews and the state budget process. 
- Collaborate with Finance Managers and stakeholders across the Operating Division to deliver evidence-based advice that influences funding decisions and budget outcomes. 
- Draft explicit, persuasive reports, ERC submissions, and briefing notes for senior executives, while meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. 
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive team culture, sharing expertise and supporting continuous improvement in financial management practices. 
About You 
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with the following: 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. 
- Strong strategic and analytical capabilities with the ability to assess complex problems and develop sound recommendations. 
- Experience in policy development, advisory, or consultancy Project management expertise – proven ability to drive initiatives from planning to implementation. 
- Adaptability and problem-solving mindset – comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment. 
- Strong background in strategy, policy development, or regulatory advisory within government, corporate or consulting environments 
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the NSW Public Sector environment, financial management, polices, processes and the relevant regulatory/legislative/statutory requirements that underpin organisational financial operations and business case preparation for the state budget. 
- Tertiary qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance or equivalent working knowledge and experience. 
Preferred requirements 
- Experience in using ERP systems to develop strategic analysis 
- Experience in using Prime (Treasury) system
