Position Overview
The Visitor Service Support role supports the Visitor Services Coordinator in delivering high-quality Front of House operations. This position is responsible for welcoming visitors, ensuring the safety and security of artworks and public spaces, and contributing to the smooth daily operation of the museum.
Key responsibilities include:
· Greeting and assisting visitors and providing exhibition, program and museum information
· Supporting Front of House operations including enquiries, ticket sales, bookings, surveys and memberships
· Monitoring the security and safety of visitors, artworks and museum spaces
· Assisting with opening and closing procedures, walk-throughs and general gallery operations
· Covering lunch breaks in the SAM Shop, including EFTPOS and cash handling as required
· Supporting the volunteer program and assisting with volunteer and casual FOH rostering where needed
· Assisting with events, programs, and exhibition-related tasks
· Maintaining professional, welcoming and high-quality customer service at all times

· The successful candidate will bring:
· Experience in a busy customer service environment
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
· The ability to problem-solve using guidelines, experience and sound judgement
· Confidence in speaking and writing, and comfort liaising with a wide range of visitors and stakeholders
· A commitment to excellent customer service and a positive visitor experience
· Enjoyment in working with diverse visitors, colleagues and volunteers
· Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure and manage competing demands
· Willingness to escalate issues when necessary
· Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role while following OH&S procedures
· Computer literacy, including POS, EFTPOS, Excel and online systems
· An interest in the visual arts and in working within a cultural organisation
