**Laboratory Technician Job Opportunity**


Detailed Description of Role and Responsibilities

This position involves operating and calibrating analytical instrumentation, specifically Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and ICP-AES equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing tasks such as microwave digestion of samples, assisting with AAS operations, preparing calibration standard solutions, handling sample disposal, and conducting stocktakes and inventory checks.

The Laboratory Technician will work in a dynamic team environment, collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality results on time. This is a full-time role, working a day shift from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.


Key Responsibilities:

* Microwave digestion of Fire Assay dore bead samples for analysis
* Assisting with AAS operations and routine preventative maintenance
* Preparing and verifying calibration standard solutions
* Handling sample disposal and cleaning labware
* Conducting stocktakes and inventory checks

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the science industry, preferably with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar field, or TAFE qualifications in laboratory techniques. Previous commercial laboratory experience and knowledge of AAS and/or ICP-AES operations are highly desirable.

A strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills are essential for this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required to effectively collaborate with the team.
