Legal Consultant – Corporate M&A and Commercial Lawyer (4+ PQE) Peerpoint is A&O Shearman's global platform for self‐directed consultant lawyers who want to access high‐quality work, clients, resources and support. Assignments typically last six months or more, either within A&O Shearman practice groups or directly with clients. Candidates may be based in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or remote working arrangements may also be considered.About the role We are seeking self‐driven corporate M&A and commercial lawyers with 4+ years post‐qualification experience and an equivalent practising certificate. Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:M&ACorporate restructuringCommercial contractsLeverage and acquisition finance or other associated financings (bonus)Recent opportunitiesA full‐time, 3–9 month role as a corporate/M&A lawyer with a fintech companyA 6‐month, 4–5 days per week role for a corporate and co‐sec lawyer with a medical devices companyA 12‐month, full‐time role for a mid‐level M&A lawyer with a global offshore renewable energy companyA short‐term, 4–5 days a week, potentially fully remote role for a commercial lawyer with a digital portal companySuccessful applicants will:Have the right to work and reside in AustraliaBe qualified to practice in Australia and have an unrestricted (unsupervised) practising certificate or the ability to obtain the sameHave a minimum of 4 years' post‐qualification experience, a proportion of which within a law firm akin to A&O Shearman and/or ranked top tier in your area of expertiseHave a willingness to engage with Peerpoint as a casual employee or via an Independent Legal PracticeHave strong technical knowledge and ideally recent Australian experience (although the latter is not strictly necessary)Be a self‐starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultantBe adept at leading or working within complex multi‐functional, multi‐national project environments, or open to working in the sameHave excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externallyBe client service‐focused, with exemplary client service ethic and commitmentHave strong commercial/business acumenBe resilient, adaptable, autonomous and highly credibleHave advanced organisational skills and diplomacyWhat makes consulting with Peerpoint different?
