ACO Eye Health is part of the Australian College of Optometry (ACO), a not-for-profit global leader in optometry. In addition to the provision of eye care services, ACO also conducts clinical and public health research and advances the profession through integrating care, research, and learning, we improve eye health outcomes locally, nationally, and internationally.

Job Description
* Full time,9-day fortnight for optometrists
* Salary $96000 - $101800 including superannuation plus salary packaging benefits

About the Opportunity:

Make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality, patient-centred eye care. As a Staff Optometrist, you will provide comprehensive optometric services across our Carlton and outreach locations. Outreach locations put you directly in the community including aged care homes, Supported Residential Services, and other community hubs.

Our clinics are in the heart of their communities and allow you to have a direct impact on the health outcomes of patients from disadvantaged backgrounds. Your focus will be on clinical care, not sales. You will also have access to some specialty clinics to continue to develop your skills as an optometrist including our dedicated Paediatrics clinic, Specialist Contact Lenses, Glaucoma Clinic, and Dry Eye. In addition to this ACO teaching clinics give you the opportunity to gain experience or reengage with shaping the next generation of the profession.

We have a wide range of state-of-the-art ophthalmic technology, including wave front aberrometry, anterior and posterior OCT, confocal ophthalmoscopy, wide field fundus photography, and electrodiagnotics.

You will join a large and diverse team of Optometrists, with the ACO employing over 45 full time and part time optometry staff, as well many sessional optometrists from private practice.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide high quality clinical services of and apply a high standard of clinical skill and knowledge, whilst working to established clinic protocols.
* Provide clinical services in a personal and caring way that is timely and responsive to patient needs and involves patients in decision making.
* Provide clinical services in a range of settings including outreach services.
* Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including history, results, and treatment plans.
* Provide timely referrals and replies to referring practitioners.
* Maintain specialised clinical skill and knowledge across a range of services (this may include participation with teaching, education, and research).
* Partake in the implementation of ACO clinical governance and clinical excellence strategies.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

You are a qualified optometrist with at least 3 years' post qualification experience and a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality clinical eyecare services. You value collaboration, continuous learning, and have a strong desire to contribute to clinical education and health promotion.

You are proactive about developing your clinical expertise and comfortable working across a range of service environments, including Outreach. Our optometrists work closely with a broad range of healthcare professionals, including ophthalmologists, and primary care physicians, to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Desired Skills:

* Evidence of achievement of and commitment to high standards of clinical skill and knowledge.
* Evidence of a strong service focus, including capacity to respond and show initiative in the provision of quality services.
* Good interpersonal skills and an indication of working well with other people.
* Self-motivated individual who demonstrates flexibility and a positive can-do attitude.
* Understanding and respecting the feelings, needs and cultural differences of others (i.e. practice in a culturally safe manner).
* An understanding of OHS principles and risk reduction.
* Minimum 3 years' experience
* A degree or Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand certification that allows registration to practice optometry.
* Prescribe therapeutic medicines in Australia certification.
* Registered by AHPRA in a capacity that allows the provision of clinical optometry services.
* Motivated to serve the community and, in particular, for people experiencing disadvantage.
* Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification to the requirements of the Optometry Board of Australia.
* Full, valid driving licence with the willingness to drive ACO fleet cars as required.
