Remuneration

Remuneration package valued at up to $156,253.00. Base salary ranges from $90,177.00 to $137,861.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

At Winston Heights Public School, our Teacher Librarian plays a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming, and well‐managed library environment that supports and inspires our whole school community. This dynamic position involves maintaining an organized and inviting space where students are actively engaged and supported in their borrowing and literacy development. The Teacher Librarian is a specialist in resource selection, assisting both students and staff with accessing a rich variety of print and digital materials, including expertly navigating the Oliver library system and SCIS. Beyond managing day‐to‐day library operations such as budgeting, accessioning, and stocktake, the role is central to fostering a love of reading, books, and storytelling through creative promotions such as Book Week celebrations, Character Parades, Book Fairs, and lunchtime initiatives. The Teacher Librarian also designs and delivers engaging library teaching and learning programs that develop students' information literacy, research skills, and critical thinking, seamlessly integrating these with classroom curricula. Collaborating closely with teaching staff, the Teacher Librarian supports curriculum needs and leads innovative initiatives that position the library as a vibrant learning hub, integrating digital learning and enhancing student engagement. Through strong classroom and behaviour management skills, this role ensures a positive, productive environment that connects the school community, making the library the heart of learning at Winston Heights PS.

Specific Selection Criteria

* Approval to teach Library (Primary), or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain a welcoming, well‐organized library environment that actively supports student engagement, borrowing procedures, and literacy development, while effectively administering library systems such as Oliver and SCIS, budgeting, accessioning, and stocktake, with flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving school needs.
* Proven experience in designing and delivering innovative library teaching and learning programs that develop students' information literacy, research skills, and aligned with curriculum objectives and class programs, and promoting a love of reading through creative initiatives such as Book Week, Book Fairs, and other school‐wide events, demonstrating adaptability to diverse student needs.
* Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teaching staff and the wider school community, fostering the library as a vibrant, central learning hub that integrates digital resources and innovative approaches, promotes student engagement, supports positive behaviour and classroom management, and shows flexibility to respond to change.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
