The project officer reports to both the Group Research Leader for Hepatitis B Research and the Community Project Manager, and is responsible for coordinating the development of a novel online web-tool to provide education and support directly to the hepatitis B affected community.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 8 months, providing maternity leave coverage from March 2026 to October 2026.

Key areas of responsibility for the project officer include:

* Coordinating the development of a patient facing web-tool providing support and education around Hepatitis B lab tests.
* Using skills to expand the user base of a community support forum.
* Developing creative strategies to expand community engagement.
* Taking on administrative duties for forum activities and monthly meetings.
* Engaging with users and community.
* Monitoring activity on the platform, moderating forum posts, and enabling a welcoming culture.
* Preparing data for research publications.
* Communicating with all levels of the institute.
* Providing support to research group and others in the lab.
* Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
* Escalating any priority issues to the Group Research Leader and Project Manager.

To be successful in this role you will need the following education, experience, and technical knowledge:

* Undergraduate degree.
* Strong administration and organisation skills.
* Outstanding time and task management skills.
* Knowledge of online platforms and website management.
* Personable and approachable demeanour.
* Sensitivity to the needs of a population that has faced stigma and discrimination.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* An understanding of hepatitis B biology and clinical practice is highly desirable.
* Experience in communicating health information to priority populations (e.g., Vietnamese and Chinese communities) is highly desirable.
