The role
Associate Director - Data Governance & Quality Pernanent Sydney Hybrid We are working with a leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced data governance professional to drive enterprise-wide improvements across data governance, data quality, and data risk management. This newly established role will play a key part in uplifting organisational data maturity and embedding stronger governance practices across the business. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will lead initiatives focused on data ownership, critical data management, data quality controls, lineage visibility, and governance operating models. You will partner across business and technology teams to establish scalable governance frameworks that support regulatory obligations, improve decision-making, and enhance trust in enterprise data. Key Responsibilities Develop and enhance enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and policies Drive improvements in data quality management and governance controls Establish and maintain critical data element (CDE) governance practices Improve enterprise data lineage and metadata visibility Define and embed data ownership and stewardship responsibilities Facilitate governance forums and cross-functional working groups Partner with risk and compliance teams to strengthen data risk management practices Enhance reporting and dashboarding capabilities related to governance and data quality Promote data literacy and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement About You You will bring strong experience across enterprise data governance, data management, or data risk within a regulated environment such as banking, insurance, or financial services. You will demonstrate: Experience implementing governance frameworks and operating models Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, metadata, and stewardship Ability to influence senior stakeholders across business and technology teams Experience delivering enterprise-wide governance initiatives Strong communication and change management capability Familiarity with regulatory and industry frameworks within regulated sectors Exposure to tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx will be highly regarded, alongside knowledge of DAMA/DMBOK principles or related governance frameworks.
