Job Description
Based in Geelong Victoria, Thornton Engineering is seeking a skilled Project Manager in our facility in Corio VIC, to oversee and coordinate production activities within our Pressure Vessel Division. The role is responsible for planning, resource allocation, progress tracking, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to strict quality and safety standards. You will lead and mentor the Production Team, work closely with internal stakeholders, and support the implementation of best practice systems, technical processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, allocate, and coordinate labor and production resources for vessel manufacturing projects.
* Monitor project progress against schedule, quality targets, and budget, escalating issues where required.
* Provide technical advice and support to the Production Team, including assistance with MDR (Manufacturer Data Record) requirements.
* Maintain communication with Project Managers, Operations Manager, and other internal teams to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
* Drive adherence to OHS, QA, and internal compliance systems.
* Mentor team members, encourage skills development, and support implementation of improved production workflows.
* Ensure accurate job costing, reporting, and keeping across all projects.
* Uphold integrity, transparency, and professionalism in all dealings with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent).
* First Aid Level 2 certification.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.

* Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams.
* Experience analyzing and resolving complex technical and operational issues.
* Effective communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to lead and support teams under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
* Demonstrated initiative, leadership capability, and sound judgement.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
