Chief financial officer

Sunshine Coast
Shadforth

Offer description

Executive Appointment | ~$1B Privately Owned Civil Group

Shadforth is a substantial, privately owned civil contracting group operating across Queensland and Northern NSW. With approximately $1B in annual revenue and a multi-entity structure, we deliver complex projects at scale while maintaining a practical, grounded culture that remains close to operations.

As part of a planned leadership evolution, we are appointing our next Chief Financial Officer. The current CFO will transition into an Executive Board position, ensuring continuity and governance strength as the business continues to grow. This is a rare opportunity to step into a CFO role within a significant privately owned enterprise operating at scale.

The Role:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board, the Chief Financial Officer will lead the financial direction of the group across its multi-entity structure. Your key areas of responsibility include:

* Leading consolidated group reporting, forecasting and financial performance oversight
* Delivering clear, strategic board-level reporting and insight
* Overseeing statutory reporting, audit, tax and governance frameworks
* Managing banking relationships, funding facilities and capital structure
* Oversight of the group's corporate insurance program, broker relationships and risk transfer strategy across project and operational exposures, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management objectives.
* Partnering with operational leadership to strengthen financial outcomes
* Driving financial systems, controls and capability across the group
* Contributing to strategic planning, capital allocation and long-term growth initiatives
* This role requires executive presence, sound judgement and the ability to influence at both Board and operational levels.

A competitive executive remuneration package, benchmarked against enterprise-level CFO market standards, will be structured to reflect the scale, complexity and strategic importance of this role.

About You:

You are an experienced Chief Financial Officer or senior finance executive, ready to step into a substantial enterprise environment. You'll bring:

* Proven senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation
* Exposure to construction, civil, contracting or similarly capital-intensive industries (highly regarded)
* Strong capability across multi-entity consolidation, governance and revenue recognition
* Experience managing banking relationships and funding arrangements
* Confidence operating at Board and executive level
* Commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to decision-making
* CA or CPA qualification

Equally important is cultural alignment. While we operate at enterprise scale, we do so without the layers and bureaucracy of a traditional corporate structure. Decision-making is direct. Accountability matters. Relationships are valued. The right person will be grounded, practical and motivated by long-term contribution rather than corporate prestige.
