Position overview
The Agriculture Sector Lead leads a team of staff dedicated to increasing the value and impact the Bureau delivers to Australia's Agriculture sector.
The Agriculture Sector Lead is accountable for managing a team of customer engagement staff, who deliver projects and provide excellent customer service, identify and prioritise customer needs and opportunities, develop compelling cases for change, and convert opportunities to projects.
The Agriculture Sector Lead will support their staff to develop initiatives to support the adoption and application of Bureau products and services within the sector, leveraging partnerships where effective. They will work cooperatively with colleagues, to identify common needs across the Bureau's priority customer sectors and pursue the most significant opportunities to deliver value and impact to the country.
The Agriculture Sector Lead leads projects and activities that aim to have real impacts to the agriculture sector by raising the awareness, knowledge and skills of farmers with regards to weather, climate and water information to support customers to take action to adapt to a changing climate.
The successful candidate is passionate about the wellbeing, performance and development of team members and collaborate with delivery partners and customers to develop and implement impactful solutions.
Under the broad direction of the Agriculture Section Manager, the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Leading a geographically distributed team of agriculture-focused staff, ensuring effective resource management, workforce planning, and management of staff development, wellbeing and performanc2Overseeing the delivery of agriculture focussed weather, climate and water projects, including senior project representation with customers and partners.
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with colleagues within the Bureau and with key Bureau partners to enable effective project delivery and synergies.
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with agriculture customers; government agencies and industry bodies.
Supporting continual improvement of the Bureau's products and services to deliver impact and value for agricultural customers.
Leading the development of opportunities to improve the agriculture sector's climate resilience.
Providing strategic advice to the Agriculture Section Manager as required.
Demonstrating commitment to APS Values, Employment Principles, Code of Conduct and the Bureau's Social Justice Strategy.
