As a Data Platform Engineer at Australian BioCommons, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing OMIX3, Australia's first integrated, accredited, multi-omic analysis platform for research and clinical samples. You'll develop cutting-edge digital solutions, including a Gen3 data commons, to enable sharing and analysis of human omic and phenotype data. This role offers you the chance to shape national research infrastructure, collaborate with top scientists, and directly contribute to AI-driven discoveries for improved health outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Pipeline Development: Create production-grade tools for automated data flows, including archiving, cataloguing, and analysis of sensitive human omics datasets.
* System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new software features and integration points.
* Quality Assurance: Design and execute test plans, lead code reviews, and maintain high-quality codebases.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Work with diverse stakeholders, including business analysts, data managers, and security specialists, to align technical solutions with project needs.

You are a skilled Software Developer with a passion for data pipelines and systems integration, possessing strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to high-quality engineering in a collaborative, open-source environment.
You may also:
* Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
* Have extensive experience developing robust, release-quality Python code.
* Demonstrate deep understanding of ETL processes and data processing.
* Possess experience with Unix/Linux command-line utilities and shell scripting.
* Show commitment to continuous learning and have excellent communication skills.
