Experience
* Proven management experience, ideally within the fitness or health industry.
* Minimum 2 years' experience managing a team in a sales-driven environment.
* Demonstrated experience managing a fitness or health club, or a similar membership-based, service-oriented environment.
* Proven track record in achieving financial, operational, and sales targets.
* Experience recruiting, training, and leading a diverse team across multiple departments.
* Experience overseeing club operations, including facility maintenance, health and safety compliance, and member services.
* Experience in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, with accountability for KPIs across sales, retention, and operational performance.
* Familiarity with CRM systems, POS systems, or membership management software (desirable).
* Genuine passion for health, fitness, and wellness, with a commitment to delivering exceptional member experiences.
Position Objective - The Club Manager is responsible for the overall operational success, management, and profitability of the fitness club. This role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, analytical skills, and management expertise to oversee all aspects of club operations, including fitness programs, front-of-house services, and administration. The objective is to create a thriving, growing club by leading a high-performing team, driving sales, ensuring exceptional member experiences, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment. Success depends on effective communication, strategic decision-making, and collaboration across departments to achieve both financial and operational goals while fostering member engagement and retention.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
* Achieve and exceed all sales and ongoing membership targets to drive club growth.
* Develop and implement innovative sales and marketing strategies, including free passes, trial memberships, and promotional campaigns.
* Monitor and ensure the club consistently meets or exceeds monthly and annual sales budgets.
* Oversee the execution of club initiatives and programs designed to enhance sales, member engagement, attendance and retention.
* Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the club and its services both internally and externally.
Financial Management
* Manage the club's Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, ensuring financial performance aligns with budgetary goals.
* Monitor and control operational expenditures, including staff wages and equipment costs, to optimise profitability.
* Provide accurate and timely financial reporting, including weekly, monthly, and annual performance summaries.
* Collaborate with management to develop and implement financial strategies that support club growth and sustainability.
Gym Operations
* Ensure all gym equipment, facilities, and amenities are maintained in excellent working order; coordinate maintenance and repairs as required.
* Oversee daily club operations to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members.
* Promptly address and resolve member inquiries, complaints, and concerns to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and operational policies.
People Management
* Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of a high-performing team across all departments.
* Monitor staff performance, attendance, and adherence to company standards, including dress code and behavior expectations.
* Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, team briefings, and annual performance reviews to align goals, provide feedback, and support career development.
* Implement strategies to enhance staff engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
* Foster a positive club culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and exceptional member experiences.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Sales & Marketing
* Achievement of new member sales and ongoing membership targets (monthly/quarterly/annual).
* Number and effectiveness of implemented sales and marketing initiatives (e.g., campaigns, promotions, trial memberships)..
* Growth in membership numbers and member referrals.
* Marketing metrics including CPL, CPS and marketing calendar budget
Financial Management
* P&L performance within ±5% of budget.
* Control of operational expenses within approved budget limits.
* Achievement of agreed financial performance metrics, including revenue, cost of goods sold, and payroll efficiency.
* Successful implementation of financial strategies supporting club growth.
Gym Operations
* Equipment uptime ≥95%; maintenance and repairs completed on schedule.
* Facility cleanliness and safety audits ≥90%.
* Member satisfaction with club facilities ≥85% (via surveys/feedback).
* Timely resolution of member complaints and inquiries (within 48 hours).
* Compliance with health, safety, and operational policies at 100%.
* Member attendance & adherence targets
* Achieve and exceed set targets in company monthly Performance Rankings
People Management
* Staff retention ≥85% annually.
* 100% of new staff onboarded and trained within 30 days of hire.
