The Role
Underwrite General Liability including but not limited to Professional Indemnity, ICT, Associations Liability, Medical Malpractice, Directors & Officers, and Management Liability – at a Junior level.
Develop long-term, sustainable broker relationships through established networks, allocated broker portfolios, and in collaboration with the State Manager SA. Contribute to the profitable growth and strategic development of the SA portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Underwrite General Liability, Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers and Management Liability Develop and build broker relationship Ensure excellent services standards including quality of underwriting and timely response which meet or exceed company standards. Continually seek ways to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness and profitability Participate in relevant professional organizations as a representative of the company Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management team In conjunction with the State Manager, ensure that budget goals are met in terms of revenue and expenses In conjunction with the State Manager, participate in goal setting, planning and executive decision-making.
Essential
The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience
At least 3 years of Insurance industry experience in underwriting and / or broking. Communication - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. Interpersonal Savvy - Relate comfortably with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography; Acts with diplomacy and tact; Builds rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way; Builds constructive relationships with people both similar and different to self. Picks up on interpersonal and group dynamics. Action Oriented – Self-starter and readily takes on challenges; high focused, enthusiastic and creative thinker. Good knowledge of Professional Indemnity Moderate knowledge of Management Liability and Public / Products Liability Experience in marketing and general broker development Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, peers, executive leadership, brokers and others Ability to negotiate and/or approve insurance quotations Must be numerate Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills Operation of Excel, Lotus Notes and all standard business computer programs Risk aware but not adverse Optimistic and reasonable approach to problem solving
