Key Responsibilities
* Review plans and technical specifications to determine materials, measurements, and installation methods
* Prepare foundations, base and bedding courses, including the application of damp-proof materials
* Assemble and dismantle restricted-height scaffolding when required
* Construct masonry structures by laying bricks, blocks, stone, and masonry slabs to specified designs
* Mix, apply, and finish mortar, ensuring correct bonding and joint alignment
* Check and maintain accurate vertical and horizontal levels throughout construction
* Cut, shape, polish, and fit bricks and stone using hand tools and machinery
* Carry out repair and maintenance work on existing masonry structures
* Design, cut, and install monumental masonry and lettering
* Cut, polish, join, and install stone benchtops, including kitchen surfaces
Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in bricklaying or stonemasonry
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
* Competency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and masonry equipment
* Strong understanding of masonry materials, mortar application, and construction techniques
* High attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship
* Ability to work safely and effectively on construction sites
