About Our Role
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in assessing and supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. This role requires a deep understanding of social and emotional wellbeing within these communities, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to holistic and culturally safe care.
This position plays a vital part in ensuring the delivery of quality services that meet the unique needs of our clients.
* The successful candidate will conduct assessments of client behaviour and social-emotional wellbeing using observation, interviews, and psychometric tests.
* They will develop, administer, and monitor tailored treatment therapies to support clients' needs.
* Maintaining accurate client records in accordance with relevant policies and standards is crucial for this role.
* The psychologist will ensure all counselling sessions are recorded in the Medicare billing system and verify appropriate referrals, including up-to-date GP Mental Health Care Plans.
* Participating in relevant meetings and training to maintain professional development is essential.
* Maintaining active registration with AHPRA as per professional requirements is a must.
* Facilitating referrals and providing information to relevant clinical professionals and community services is also an important aspect of this role.
Your Skills and Qualifications
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Certificate III/IV in Community Services, Mental Health, AOD Work) or equivalent tertiary qualifications, or working towards one, is necessary.
* A deep understanding and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history, and current issues facing Aboriginal communities is required.
* Proven experience delivering programs and activities for Aboriginal people is essential.
* Experience in direct care delivery and coordination for mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and community support programs is necessary.
* The ability to make appropriate referrals to mental health, AOD services, and community programs is also required.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to manage competing priorities, are necessary.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, are required.
* Flexibility to work across different settings as required is also essential.
* Proficiency in using computer software for program data recording is necessary.
