About Agscent

Agscent is pioneering the future of agriculture through AI-powered livestock breath diagnostics. Our cutting-edge solutions include advanced methane sensors and NASA-derived nanotechnology that revolutionise pregnancy and disease detection. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, our technology enables farmers and ranchers to dramatically improve productivity and profitability while simultaneously reducing agriculture's climate impact and strengthening biosecurity.

We are a forward-thinking team with cross-disciplinary expertise in agriculture, data science, and business innovation. We're seeking a visionary AI/ML Data Scientist to drive our next generation of intelligent diagnostic solutions.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven AI/ML Data Scientist to lead the development of our next generation of intelligent diagnostic solutions. In this role, you will design and implement sophisticated machine learning models that transform complex sensor data into actionable insights for agricultural operators worldwide. You will take ownership of building an end-to-end machine learning and data science pipeline, from data ingestion and feature engineering through to model deployment and performance monitoring. You will work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and real-world deployment, contributing directly to solutions that have measurable impact on both farm productivity and climate outcomes.

What You'll Do

* Sensor Data Analysis & Signal Processing:
Develop algorithms to extract meaningful patterns from multi-dimensional sensor data, working with noisy, real-world signals across varied operating conditions.
* Performance Monitoring & Calibration:
Design systems to monitor sensor performance over time, including drift characterisation, calibration modelling, and quality control frameworks.
* Pattern Recognition & Predictive Modelling:
Build and validate classification and regression models across multivariate datasets, with a focus on interpretability and diagnostic reliability.
* Experimental Protocol Development:
Collaborate with hardware and assay teams to design statistically sound data collection protocols aligned with modelling objectives.
* Data Pipeline Development:
Build and maintain pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, feature engineering, and model inference, with strong documentation and version control practices.
* Technical Documentation & Communication:
Document algorithms and validation results to regulatory submission standard and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

* MS or PhD in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
* 2–4 years of applied experience developing and validating ML or statistical models (AgTech experience is a plus)
* Experience with time-series or multivariate datasets, including signal processing and feature extraction
* Proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
* Strong model validation fundamentals and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-specialist audiences and diverse stakeholders
* Background in precision agriculture or smart livestock management, as well as familiarity with regulated environments and software quality requirements will be highly considered.

Who Thrives Here

* A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is energised by working at the frontier of AI and agriculture
* Comfortable operating independently, taking ownership of complex modelling challenges, and driving technical execution without constant oversight
* Brings rigour and momentum to projects spanning sensor data analysis, predictive modelling, and data pipeline development
* Highly productive and self-motivated, with the discipline to maintain strong documentation and validation standards under pressure
* Enjoys the autonomy to build systems and processes from the ground up, and takes satisfaction in seeing their work translate into real-world impact

Why Join Agscent?

* Lead the development of AI diagnostic solutions from the ground up in a high-growth AgTech startup
* Work with unique, proprietary datasets and cutting-edge NASA-licensed nanosensor technology
* Join a collaborative, mission-driven team passionate about transforming agricultural productivity and sustainability
* Flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle
* Competitive salary package

Application Process

To apply, please submit your resume highlighting your AI/ML innovations and links to relevant GitHub repositories or research publications. We are reviewing applications and interviewing candidates on a rolling basis, with the aim of filling this position as soon as possible.
