Our exceptional Finance team at Thynne + Macartney is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Legal Accounts Clerk to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. Whilst your key focus will be accounts payable, as an important member of the Finance team, you will also assist with other accounting functions when required. This opportunity can also be offered on a part-time basis (4 days per week) to the right candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities
Process and code creditor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
Manage end-to-end accounts payable, including invoice entry, posting, and daily office and trust payment runs.
Reconcile petty cash, credit card and supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Liaise with vendors and internal teams to address queries and maintain positive relationships.
Assist with month-end close activities and reporting.
Support process improvement initiatives and system upgrades.
Ensure expenditure is appropriately incurred and approved.
Prepare trust to office transfers from the firm's legal trust account.
Participate in general accounting tasks as required.
Skills & Experience
Recent experience in accounts clerk / accounts payable position.
Working in a law firm environment is highly regarded.
Experience using Open Practice or other practice management system
Previous knowledge in reconciliation procedures.
Understanding of trust accounting.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
Excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to deal with competing deadlines accurately and efficiently.
Capacity to be self-managed and be self-motivated.
Proven ability to use Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
