A rare opportunity has arisen for a junior lawyer to join our expanding Insurance Team, working predominantly on Workers' Compensation and Compulsory Third Party insurance claims.
The team is overseen by Laura Angel, a leading lawyer in the insurance sector in Western Australia.
This position would suit a newly admitted lawyer (up to two years PAE) in Western Australia with an interest in insurance work.
The role includes pro bono opportunities for one or two days per week.
We are looking for someone who has strong attention to detail and accuracy, an enthusiastic attitude and ability to pick up new skills.
Key tasks
Under the supervision of senior lawyers, responsibilities include:
* Drafting legal advice to clients
* Assisting in the management of client files
* Attending hearings on behalf of the client
* Legal research and analysis
* Liaising with clients, counsel and experts
* Conducting interviews of expert witnesses and other key potential witnesses in preparing the client's case
* Drafting pleadings, affidavits, notices, chamber summons applications, witness statements
* Assisting with pro bono matters
* Secondment to a Community Legal Centre or similar institution.
