Diesel Fitter Mechanic Apprenticeship
As a Diesel Fitter Mechanic Apprentice, you will learn from the ground up to work on mobile plant machinery, trucks, and vehicles in the civil construction industry. Your duties will include inspecting, servicing, and repairing plant machinery/equipment, diagnostic/repair braking & steering systems, and maintaining tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect, service, and repair plant machinery/equipment
* Diagnostics and repair of braking & steering systems
* Inspect, service, repair - diagnostics cooling systems, emissions systems, and air-conditioning systems
* Maintain material tools and equipment properly
* Assist in carrying out light fabrication work
* Utilize hand and power tools
* Assist in cleaning and keeping workshops and surroundings tidy
* Assist with maintaining daily records of plant, labor, and materials used
Requirements:
* Passion for mechanics
* Construction White Card (can be completed online before commencing)
* Motivated and willing to learn
* Reliable and have a positive attitude
* Driver's license and reliable transport
* Flexible and available to work both day and night shifts if required
* Competent numeracy & literacy skills
* Completed Year 10 High School Certificate
* Able to undertake TAFE studies and complete at a satisfactory level within a timely manner
* Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
Location:
The apprenticeship is based in Roma workshop but requires working across other regions in QLD to gain full trade experience during the apprenticeship. This may involve working away on projects if needed, so flexibility is necessary. Applicants must live in the Roma region.
