Sinopec Oil and Gas Australia Pty Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Sinopec, is actively involved in the Australia Pacific LNG Pty Ltd (APLNG) project as a shareholder. APLNG, an incorporated joint venture between Sinopec, ConocoPhillips, and Origin Energy, is a major supplier supporting the Australian domestic east coast gas market and the global LNG market.

The Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with Sinopec Oil and Gas Australia Pty Ltd (Sinopec) Country Manager and Deputy GM in charge of the Strategy and Commercial, playing a vital role to assist Sinopec in managing its commercial interests in APLNG JV across all levels from working level meetings and committees to senior management and, board meeting representation. This role will also act as Sinopec nominated Alternate Director at APLNG JV, representing Sinopec at APLNG Board meetings, Steering Committees and Senior Shareholder meetings. The suitable candidate will be willing to get their hands dirty at a working level of key commercial issues as well as be capable of adapting to engaging at the most senior levels of APLNG business.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide high quality and timely strategic & commercial advice to Sinopec Country Manager and Sinopec Nominated Directors at APLNG JV.

As the Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of your assigned department, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and alignment with organizational goals. You will lead a team to manage resources, and implement strategies to drive performance and continuous improvement.

Building relationships to enable collaboration and influence APLNG, ConocoPhillips, Origin and Sinopec stakeholders to maximise business value across the full value chain.

Influencing/negotiating with APLNG and other Shareholders to ensure Sinopec's key business drivers are understood and incorporated into APLNG business strategy and plans as appropriate.

Provide comprehensive commercial leadership and oversight for Sinopec and APLNG across Government affairs, business development, gas marketing, joint venture assets and litigation matters.

Managing and leading collaboration amongst Sinopec technical, finance, legal and commercial functions to deliver business strategy, evaluate opportunities and deliver clear recommendations to management.

Understanding of economic analysis and ability to articulate value drivers to others;

Monitoring and analysis of APLNG gas and LNG marketing activities;

Lead the APLNG Board approval process in accordance with Sinopec's Delegation of Authority and provide independent analysis for Sinopec's Leadership regarding board decisions;

Prepare various presentations to brief Sinopec representatives for APLNG board and committee meetings;

Provide leadership, critical review/challenge and support on the negotiation and execution of material commercial agreements on the business across the APLNG Upstream and Downstream project value chain;

Align stakeholders on guiding principles and provide commercial consultation and governance on various agreements.

Provide peer reviews and assessments of commercial negotiations and strategies.

Leading evaluation of APLNG long term gas supply strategy and using this evaluation to inform/guide Sinopec's optimal position and support its influence and cooperation with the other stakeholders.

Engage with relevant functional areas at Sinopec HQ in Beijing and prepare commercial related internal reports as required.

Guide and mentor less experienced team members, sharing experiences and helping to generate creative value-driven solutions to opportunities and challenges

2. Required and Preferred Skills/Competencies

15+ years working experience in the oil and gas industry with a strong commercial and strategic focus.

Bachelor of Commerce or Engineering or other suitable degree with developed and demonstrated commercial and JV acumen

Experience in strategy development, long-term business planning, external/government relationship management and commercial negotiations (joint venture, gas marketing, processing, sales & purchase agreements).

Work experience with joint venture business structures and governance and associated committee structures.

Experience acting as a non-operating partner of a Joint Venture and demonstrated experience in influencing outcomes in this environment.

Good leadership skills including the ability to set and manage agendas and conduct effective meetings.

Demonstrated experience in and understanding of oil and gas operations and activity, contracting and commercial arrangements typical in the international energy business including Competition Law compliance and Regulatory/Government affairs

Strong Communication, collaboration and influencing skills, a commitment to team effectiveness, developing/supporting their staff and creating integrated value.

Breadth of understanding of the business including strategic, external/government and commercial.

Personal commitment to health, safety and the environment.

Willingness to work in a diverse cultural environment and commitment to creating an inclusive atmosphere.

MAICD or GAICD is preferred.
