Your new role
As Senior Account Manager / Account Director, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of commercial clients including manufacturers, importers/exporters, retailers, property owners, and marine risks. You'll be responsible for servicing existing accounts, refining the book, and bringing in new business from your own network or database. This is a senior role with strong succession potential. The role is available due to a Senior Director retiring from the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and retain an existing portfolio valued at approximately $650k, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
* Conduct a full handover with the retiring Account Director to ensure continuity of service and relationship management.
* Identify and transition new business opportunities from your own network or database.
* Refine and restructure the book by focusing on quality clients and phasing out smaller, less strategic accounts.
* Provide tailored insurance solutions across a broad generalist portfolio including manufacturing, retail, import/export, property, marine, and goods in transit.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients across Victoria and interstate.
* Collaborate with a team of commercial and marine brokers, supported by offshore processing staff.
* Work closely with the Managing Director and senior team to contribute to business strategy and growth.
* Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.
* Represent the business professionally in the market, with a view to long-term succession and potential equity involvement.
What you'll need to succeed
* 10+ years experience in Account Management and Insurance Broking
* Proven, senior leadership experience within general insurance broking, ideally across commercial lines.
* Strong client relationships and the ability to bring accounts with you.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and client service skills.
* A stable career history with long-term roles.
* Ability to work full-time from the office in the Eastern suburbs, with occasional flexibility.
* A proactive, relationship-driven approach and long-term career mindset.
