Primary objective
Provide sound professional advice critical in dealing with significant issues related to assessment, planning, review, evaluation, and
coordination of education programs in defined practice area.
Context statement
This role will coordinate and deliver evidenced based education services to multidisciplinary teams involved in the care of women
across the spectrum of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, within inpatient and outpatient areas of RDPH. The role also
includes the provision of education, clinical supervision and support to undergraduate midwifery and medical students as well as
staff within the Maternity wards and outpatient settings. Development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement
projects to improve service provision is also a key deliverable, including collaboration with interstate and international organisations
and education providers.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Collaborate in the development and implementation of education programs to support professional development needs of
healthcare workers and address inconsistencies between practice and policy within the defined practice area.
2. Support delivery of excellence in nursing/midwifery care by modelling advanced knowledge, skills, and behaviours for the
provision of client care and working alongside less experienced staff to develop appropriate skills, knowledge, abilities, and
attitudes.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated education/training or experience in the development and/or delivery of education theory and practice.
3. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in an area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, and application of adult
learning principles using a range of modes/methods to enable delivery of high quality clinical and education practice.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs to better meet organisational needs and/or
address new and emerging developments.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships with internal and external
stakeholders and facilitate a positive learning environment.
1. Demonstrates and applies well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and
sensitivities that influence healthcare and delivery of education programs.

1. Graduate Diploma, or equivalent, beyond entry to practice relevant to specialty area.
