About the role.
Join McCain Foods at our renowned Ballarat Potato Plant as a Maintenance Planner and play a pivotal role in maintaining our world-class standards for safety, reliability, and operational excellence. As a key member of the Maintenance team you will develop and execute well-structured work packages, collaborating with cross-functional experts to deliver a robust preventive maintenance program under the MDI (McCain Driving Impact). This critical position champions a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork while ensuring strict compliance with local, international, and McCain regulations for food safety and operational standards. What you'll be doing.
Plan and optimise complete maintenance work packages for electrical utilities and building equipment.
Lead and foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Coordinate preventive maintenance activities across departments in line with the MDI strategy.
Manage and prioritise new maintenance work requests daily.
Identify source and ensure availability of necessary parts and materials for maintenance tasks.
Develop and manage service agreements with third-party contractors and oversee on-site contractor compliance.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities including work orders, manuals, services, and inventory using SAP as the CMMS.
Support Inventory Controller by optimising spare parts and materials.
Collaborate with Engineering on new installations and equipment upgrades.
Ensure compliance with McCain food safety, OH&S and all relevant internal policies and procedures.
What you'll need to be successful.
Minimum five years experience in a FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment; ideally seven years.
Proven experience managing contractors and high-risk work in an industrial setting.
Confident collaborator able to work effectively at all organisational levels.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics) or related field.
Strong computer literacy, data analysis capability and experience using SAP (CMMS).
Demonstrated Lean manufacturing knowledge (e.g., TPM, Six Sigma, MDI frameworks).
Proficient in root-cause analysis, condition inspection techniques, and problem-solving.
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and take initiative.
Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Sharepoint, Teams), Excel and AutoCAD (desirable).
Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of industrial services such as boilers, compressed air, waste treatment and refrigeration (desirable).
