Scope
Design Engineer is responsible for research and the development of new products, technologies, components, processes and systems and works to improve the performance and efficiency of existing products. Design Engineer is responsible for ensuring the success of the design from inception through to delivery into manufacture and ongoing performance in the field.
Responsibilities
· Design new engineering products and processes to meet the design specifications.
· Prepare models and drawings of products using SolidWorks.
· Prepare assembly drawings, owners' manuals, instruction sheets and other engineering documentation that is required for successful launch and ongoing usage of the product.
· Assess product usability and safety.
· Research new product ideas and methods
· Estimate cost limits and budgets for new designs.
· Improve existing products and processes.
· Analyse product warranty returns and conduct causal analysis of failures.
· Maintain existing engineering records and designs.
· Develop testing rigs and methods to test prototypes and analyse data.
· Carry out test and trial fit-ups of equipment on vehicles and provide support to internal and external customers.
· Present prototypes and designs to customers.
· Coordinate with other engineers, product management and operations.
· Comply with all company policies and procedures.
· Any other responsibilities as reasonably required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Minimum 5+ years of Mechanical engineering and SolidWorks experience preferred.
· 2+ years of experience in automotive or industrial hydraulic product design/manufacturing preferred.
· Proven design experience, and use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.
· Good understanding of manufacturing methods for medium/high volume production including casting design, turning, milling, machining centres, gear manufacturing, heat treatment, metrology, quality systems, etc.
· Good understanding of test methods, measurement and instrumentation.
· Good understanding of safety standards and environmental impact of design.
· Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application.
