Classification: Academic Level B
Salary package: $118,632 - $134,507 per annum (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation
Term: Part-time (3.5 hours per week), Fixed Term (up to 24 months)
The Position
This position is part of an NIH-funded research project supporting a two-year clinical trial. The role is critical to the trial's success, providing essential psychiatric supervision as required by the study protocol. Key responsibilities include assessing participant eligibility, reviewing clinical concerns raised by research staff, and advising on emergent psychiatric issues throughout the trial.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in novel therapies for mental health conditions, particularly involving non-invasive brain stimulation and potentially psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. This includes ongoing patient assessment and expert psychiatric input into trial management.
The Person
The ideal candidate will hold a primary medical degree and have completed postgraduate training in psychiatry, with some experience in clinical research. This role is particularly suited to a psychiatrist who has completed their training in Australia, is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). Senior psychiatry trainees who meet the necessary requirements may also be considered.
The successful applicant will also possess the flexibility to adjust existing clinical or professional responsibilities to support the project's needs, ensuring timely contributions aligned with the program's strategic objectives. Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills are essential for success in this role.
