About this role
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at TMR, you’ll help deliver smart and reliable mechanical solutions that support transport infrastructure and services across Queensland. Your work will focus on keeping vehicles, equipment, and systems running safely and efficiently to meet the department’s infrastructure and operational needs.
Important information for Engineering graduates : engineering qualifications must be 4-Year Washington Accord accredited or have undergone assessment for accreditation through Engineers Australia.
Key responsibilities may include:
* Ensure availability and optimisation of fit-for-purpose vehicles and equipment for road construction and maintenance.
* Support fleet and equipment management, including design, procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle optimisation.
* Contribute to asset management by ensuring mechanical assets meet safety, environmental, and cost-effectiveness standards.
* Assist in mechanical services for heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment to support TMR operations.
* Promote sustainability by integrating low-emission technologies and alternative fuels.
Specialisations and development:
* Bridge and structural engineering support for movable transport infrastructure.
* Traffic systems and intelligent transport solutions, including mechanical components of automated systems.
* Rail and maritime engineering, supporting mechanical systems in rolling stock and ferries.
* Research and development of innovative technologies and materials for future transport needs.

We have up to two roles available in Brisbane.
Technical skills and qualifications:
* Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (4-year Washington Accord) completed within the last 3 years, or
* Bachelor of Engineering and a relevant post-graduate qualification in mechanical engineering completed within the last 12 months, or
* If your Bachelor’s degree was completed at a University which was not part of the Washington Accord for any part of the period you studied, you will need to provide evidence from Engineering Australia that your skills and knowledge meet the same standard for your application to be considered.
