Our client is a globally recognized innovator in advanced energy storage technologies, helping accelerate Australia's transition toward a cleaner, more reliable energy future. The company develops and delivers large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that enable renewable integration, grid stability, and decarbonization projects across the region.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join an established technology business at the forefront of the renewable transition. You'll work closely with sales, legal, and project teams to review and negotiate contracts, manage commercial risk, and support large-scale renewable and storage projects from tender through to execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead negotiation, drafting, and administration of EPC, Balance-of-Plant, transmission line, substation, and grid connection agreements
* Manage contractual interfaces with EPC contractors, transmission network service providers (TNSPs), distribution network service providers (DNSPs), and OEM partners
* Support contract strategy development, risk allocation, and commercial structuring for utility-scale BESS projects
* Administer contracts through execution, including variations, extensions of time, claims, liquidated damages, and performance guarantees
* Coordinate closely with engineering and grid teams to ensure contractual alignment with technical scope, grid compliance, and connection requirements
* Support procurement activities including tender reviews, commercial evaluations, and contract award recommendations
* Interface with legal advisors on contract terms, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation strategies
* Maintain contract registers, approvals, and governance documentation in line with internal controls
* Provide commercial and contractual support to project delivery teams through construction and commissioning phases
About You
* Degree in Law, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
* 6–10 years' experience in contract management, ideally within renewable energy industry
* Sound understanding of commercial law, risk assessment, and project finance.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
* Collaborative and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Fluency in English is essential; additional languages would be a plus
