Join a team shaping digital services for millions of customers
Service NSW is making it easier for people and businesses across NSW to access government services. Since launching in 2013, we’ve transformed how customers interact with government through award‑winning digital platforms, 24/7 contact centres and an expanding network of service centres.
The Partnerships, Projects & Insights (PPI) division brings together strategic partnerships, project delivery and enterprise data capabilities to help drive transformation across Service NSW. Within PPI, the Enterprise Data team provides data warehousing, reporting, dashboarding, analytics and data request services to support projects, programs and business areas across the organisation.
We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong Google Analytics expertise to join Enterprise Data and support evidence-based decision making through trusted reporting, digital measurement and insights that help improve services for customers and staff across Service NSW.
About the role
As a Data Analyst (Google Analytics), you will analyse data from multiple sources to identify trends, performance insights and opportunities for continuous improvement. You will play a key role in supporting digital optimisation by translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
This role suits an analytical thinker who enjoys working with large, complex datasets and partnering with stakeholders to improve customer outcomes across digital services.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Work with stakeholders to define measurement and reporting requirements, and translate business questions into clear analytics and data solutions aligned to business outcomes.
* Support the design and documentation of data layers and measurement plans for web and mobile products to enable consistent, high-quality digital analytics.
* Work with engineers and product teams through development, implementation and testing to support accurate analytics tracking and measurement outcomes.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting assets, data extracts and reusable analytics products that support enterprise-wide performance monitoring and service improvement.
* Analyse and interpret complex digital datasets (including Google Analytics), visualise and communicate trends, patterns and insights that inform service design, digital optimisation and business improvement.
* Ensure data quality and integrity through effective acquisition, validation, linkage and cleansing, and provide expert advice to improve the efficiency, reliability and usability of data products.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
You are a proactive and collaborative data professional who can balance technical expertise with clear communication. You enjoy solving problems, working with stakeholders and turning data into meaningful stories that influence decision making.
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Statistics, Mathematics, Social Science, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
* Demonstrated experience using Google Analytics 360 and other digital analytics tools to analyse digital performance and user behaviour
* Strong analytical and technical skills, including SQL, data interpretation, and working with large or complex datasets from multiple sources in cloud-based data environments such as Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
* Experience working with stakeholders to gather measurement and reporting requirements and translate them into practical analytics solutions
* Experience designing and documenting measurement plans and data layer requirements, and working with engineers and product teams on tracking design, implementation, debugging and testing across web and mobile products. Experience supporting tracking development in Google Tag Manager using JavaScript.
* Experience designing and maintaining dashboards, reports and data visualisations using Tableau, Looker Studio or similar BI tools, with the ability to communicate insights clearly to different audiences.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and time management skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
