Centacare Kimberley is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and community‐focused Family Care Support Worker to join our Family Support Services team in the West Kimberley. This is a meaningful opportunity to work directly with families to strengthen safety, stability and wellbeing for children, supporting positive family outcomes and helping to keep families together wherever possible.
This role is based in Derby / Fitzroy Crossing, with regular travel across the West Kimberley region, including outreach to remote communities and overnight stays as required.
The position is offered on a full‐time permanent basis (1.0 FTE), subject to ongoing funding, and is classified under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award – Level 4 / 5, dependent on qualification and experience.
Reporting to the Manager – Family Services, you will provide intensive, structured case management and practical support to families engaged in therapeutic family support programs, including families involved in child protection processes and kinship care arrangements.
You will play a key role in delivering culturally secure, strengths‐based support that responds to complex family needs and promotes safe, nurturing home environments for children.
About the role
* Deliver intensive, structured case management support to families referred to the service.
* Work directly with families to identify needs, set goals, and support positive change.
* Undertake regular outreach across Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, and surrounding West Kimberley communities.
* Support families involved in child protection and kinship care arrangements to build safe and stable home environments.
* Liaise and collaborate with government and non‐government agencies to coordinate holistic support for families.
* Maintain accurate case notes, service data, and client records in line with organisational and funding requirements.
* Work within a cultural security framework that respects and strengthens Aboriginal culture and community connections.
* Contribute positively to a collaborative, supportive and team‐focused service environment.
About you
You are a caring, resilient and culturally responsive practitioner who is passionate about supporting families experiencing complex challenges. You are confident working in community settings and building trust with families who may be experiencing vulnerability or crisis.
* Experience working with families in the social and community services sector.
* Demonstrated skills in case management and person‐centred practice.
* Strong communication and relationship‐building skills, particularly with Aboriginal families and communities.
* Experience working with people with complex needs and challenging circumstances.
* Ability to work collaboratively with government and non‐government agencies.
* Strong organisational skills, including accurate record keeping and use of Microsoft Office systems.
* Understanding of child protection issues and the social factors impacting families in remote communities.
* Commitment to culturally secure practice within an Aboriginal community‐controlled organisation.
* A current WA 'C' class driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly across the West Kimberley, including overnight stays.
* Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.

Remuneration and benefits
A competitive salary package is offered in line with the SCHADS Award Level 4/5, dependent on skills and experience. Additional benefits may include:

* Generous salary packaging options available through CBB, including full remote area housing and salary packaging benefits of up to $31,800 (access to salary packaging benefits is subject to individual circumstances and CBB eligibility requirements). Remote area housing salary packaging is only available to candidates based in a remote area as defined by the ATO (Broome, WA is classified as a remote area under the ATO guidelines).
