Primary objective
Responsible for developing, operationalising and supporting digital strategy, policy and governance and committees to ensure
efficient, high-quality services are delivered to support the education and training improvement agenda.
Context statement
The Strategic Projects branch ensures that programs and projects align with agency, Northern Territory Government (NTG), and
Australian Government priorities. It promotes and maintains program management standards, ensuring consistent delivery and
portfolio reporting. The branch also leads the response to strategic digital technology priorities and guides the department's digital
direction. The team develops and implements tactical plans to ensure the efficient delivery of enterprise applications and digital
services, working closely with business areas, OneNTG partners, consultants, and business analysts to achieve outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead development and implementation of the Department of Education and Training's digital strategic direction, including
working with partners to ensure implementation, accountability and reporting systems support improvement of student
outcomes.
1. Monitor and coordinate reporting requirements against the whole of government and Federal digital strategy and initiatives.
2. Lead digital projects, including the review, development and implementation of digital policies, frameworks, guidelines and
documents, in collaboration with business partners and subject matter experts, requiring clear project planning, delivery
oversight, meeting critical needs and review process.
1. Monitor the external strategy and policy environment and ensure the department's digital priorities and policies are consistent
and contemporary, supporting clients to drive student engagement, growth and achievement.
1. Manage the digital strategic governance arrangements, committees, and boards.
2. Provide strategic information and advice to a wide variety of audiences to inform decision-making, including updates on digital
project progress, risks, outcomes and alignment with strategic goals and timeframes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the development and operationalisation of strategy and project plans to accelerate the
achievement of business objectives.
2. Proven experience in policy development, particularly developing strategic frameworks for policy and supporting development
of high-quality policies, standards and guidelines.
3. High level communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with ability to present complex issues and recommendations to
non-specialist audiences to establish common goals and influence outcomes.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of corporate governance, accountability systems, project management and change management.
5. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders and interact
effectively with people from diverse cultures to support organisational outcomes.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently, and within a team, to manage a variety of diverse projects.
7. Sound knowledge of digital innovation, research and developments in the education sector across jurisdictions and at the
national level.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in education, project management, business or similar.
2. Experience working in an educational and/or training context.
